THE history of Stockton Town Centre comes under the spotlight in the latest heritage trail leaflet.
Stockton Council has produced the leaflet which highlights the historic properties in the Town Centre, drawing particular attention to the surviving examples of its 18th Century past.
The leaflets have been funded by the Council and English Heritage under the Stockton Heritage in Partnership scheme.
The heritage trail starts at the Town Hall and takes in the High Street, Dovecot Street, West Row, Ramsgate, Yarm Lane, Finkle Street, Green Dragon Yard, Silver Street, Thistle Green and Church Road.
Photographs and descriptions of certain buildings are provided.
Councillor Bob Cook, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Regeneration, said: “This new leaflet is a great way for people to take a new look at the Town Centre and learn all about its history.”
Other heritage trail leaflets focus on Cowpen Bewley, Norton and Yarm. They, along with the Stockton leaflet, are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Stockton Central Library.
